Let's see...terms I have learned while in...

Latrine...a restroom. Also known as a "head" if you're in the Marines

Make a hole....means for a crowd of people to move out of the way to let someone pass thru...such as an officer

Fubar....an acronym for ****ed up beyond any repair

Lifer....a term used to describe someone who is going to stay in until they retire

Micap....an acronym for mission incapable awaiting parts, or meaning the unit cannot/will not work and we are waiting for the parts to get here to fix it...

Mule....a portable hydraulic pumping unit maintained by Aerospace Ground Equipment flight and used by Crew Chiefs to operate the hydraulics systems on the aircraft when the aircraft is on the ground/not running. Also inappropriately used by crew chiefs to service up/deservice their aircraft.

Jammer....an aircraft bomblift.

Home steader....a person who does their entire career at one base.

"Brass".....used to describe high ranking officers, even though no officers actually wear any brass, but a 2LT and a Major do have gold in their rank insignia.

Butter bars....a 2LT's rank insignia

Railroad tracks....a Captain's rank (doesn't apply to Navy) Deez Nuts; the Navy equivalent of a USAF Captain is called "Lieutenant"

Chow hall...the place where you eat. Also called "mess hall", "dining hall" and "DFAC".
