And the spouses and children of current and former USAA members are eligible. Good company!

Default USAA now open to ALL honorably discharged vets!

USAA has changed its policies! Eligibility for membership is now open to anyone who has ever served honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces!

I've had USAA for a few years now and really like it. They have great customer service.

What do you guys think?

I have had very good service with USAA with various insurance, vehicle and home for over 20 years. My daughter was able to eventually get USAA after we carried her for a while. We also do our banking with them and financed our last vehicle through them...

Some facts:

"USAA was founded in 1922 by a group of U.S. Army officers to self-insure each other when they were unable to secure auto insurance due to the perception that they were a high-risk group"

"But USAA has always been an exclusive club. When it was set up in 1922, only officers were eligible. In 1996, the company began including enlisted men and women."

everyone active or recently separated. When my mom got out of the military USAA was officer only. I got it when I joined, but she was ineligible due to too much time passing since she separated. This is her first opportunity to join.

I am very happy with USAA I have been a member since 1978(eligible through my Dad who was an officer) First with my cars now with our cars and house.

Before we were married I was able to add my husband to my policy because we were living together.

It is almost time for the end of year "bonus rebate check" !!!

USAA is now open to anyone, whether they've been in the service or not. I opened an account, and I was never in the service. But I did work for DOD at one point in time, but left in 1987.

And I'm now trying to go back into the feds.........
