Listen to this my fellow "Americans". Especially the Mothers, Fathers, Brothers and Sisters of fallin Soldiers.

A church known as the "Westboro Baptist Church" in Topeka Kansas are the ones responsible for standing outside the funerals and disrupting the graveside services of fallin servicemen and servicewomen in protest of the war. Now I don't know about you folks, but if they show up in my neck of the wood, they're going to learn what pavement tastes like, male or female. They're carrying signs like "God made IED's to kill soldiers" and "We're glad you son or daughter is dead", plus a few others I won't say in respect of good friends here on CDF.

I have an address for these scum-bags if you want it I will post it, but only if CDF allows me to.

There is a group (what are they called Patriot Riders or Patriot Guard or something) that volunteers to ride/escort at funerals and block the WBC members so the family and mourners do not have to see the protests and signs.

I bet more can be accomplished supporting this group than sending hate-mail to the WBC. They probably get enough to insulate their homes twenty times over.

here is a link for the riders

I love this line from their mission statement:

"We don’t care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you’re a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn't matter where you’re from or what your income is; you don’t even have to ride. The only prerequisite is Respect."

And the way they accomplish their mission (without confrontation and always keeping the family of the deceased as their first priority) speaks volumes.

It is so sad that people insist that their right to speak and express anger be absolutely granted, no matter the situation.

First of all, are you sure these folks are from Westboro? I mean, really? Churches are supposed to be places of love, not hate. It's possible they may attend there (I doubt they would be members, though), but I'll bet they probably don't go there at all. I know there are some bad apples out there in the world, but I wouldn't pass judgment on an entire church's congregation just because of the opinions of a few protesters who, for all we know, have too much time on their hands. Did they really say they even go to such a church??

That's the downside of our precious First Amendment, when stuff like this happens.

This is their website.

Westboro Baptist Church Home Page

from the site FAQ

"WBC has conducted over 33,000 such demonstrations since June, 1991, at homosexual parades and other events, including funerals of impenitent sodomites (like Matthew Shepard) and over 200 military funerals of troops whom God has killed in Iraq/Afghanistan in righteous judgment against an evil nation. "

Have you heard of Fred Phelps? google him - he is their leader.

I am sure the mainstream Baptist organizations would love to get the name Baptist removed from the name of the WBC.

Well, I'll be. I hope it gets removed, and fast.

These clowns are nothing new. They came to Ft. Bragg to picket the funerals of a few fallen soldiers shortly after I PCS'd. Which as much as I disliked Bragg, Pope and Fayettenam I wished I could have been there that day armed with a paintball gun so I could have colored them in rainbows of paint.

But then again I've heard they want for you to bash their brains in...so they can sue you to high hell and back again.

The sad reality is these hatemongers do not worship the same loving God I do. They worship Satan but they are so blinded they cannot see that. Sorry to have gotten off on a religious tirade but I had to.

And here's something else...the whole church is primarily made up of inbreds within the church. The church did suffer a fire at the hands of an arsonist sometime back, though no one was hurt or killed that I'm aware of.

These idiots not only protest the funerals of fallen service members....but if anyone remembers a few years back where that 32 year old truck driver murdered the Amish school girls at school before taking his own life...the WBC had actually planned to protest the dead Amish girls' funeral! Now what harm have the Amish ever done to anyone??? Thankfully someone offered them air time in exchange they didn't do the protest as planned, which i am very grateful for.

Here's a clip where a British journalist spent some time with the WBC. Notice how much of an a-hole Fred Phelps is.

YouTube - WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH - WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS CALVINISTS (1 of 8)

There's 7 more clips; be sure to watch them all.

The really sad thing is some of the church members are children not even in their teens yet and have been taught nothing but hatred. I'd be surprised if this church didn't also have ties to racist hatred groups.
