Last I read, all the branches were way pickier than, say, from 2006-08 because of the economic crisis putting a lot of well-qualified potential applicants into the market. In other words, recruiters wouldn't bother working with people who would need waivers and such because there were plenty of folks who wouldn't need one ready to join.
For a little while the Air Force was denying ALL ALL ALL waivers, for anything. That has now been loosened to a case by case basis. The minimum score for the ASVAB has also been raised significantly for the Air Force, and there are waits for almost every career field. But that's about all I know.
I did a tour as an Army recuiter from 1987-1991. It was the most difficult duty assignment I had in the military. I was successful but the pressure recruiting command put on recruiters was brutal. No wonder some recruiters went to the dark side. You always had the fear and threat of bad NCOERs and ruining your career.
Hurricane- I have no clue about the other services... sorry. Don't want to speculate. Although, I'd imagine that they have more people interested... the question is if the extra interested people are qualified!
Shoot, I took that 'pre-ASVAB' on the Army Career Explorer and I think I got an 80 or something like that. Sadly, what I'm looking to get waived is either not waiveable or is incredibly difficult to get waived (unless we go back to the recruiting environment pre-economic meltdown).
Well, I don't know what you're trying to waive, but the best thing you can do is call a recruiter, and then call another recruiter. Here is the Army's official waiver regulation if it helps, but these things can be modified by commanders who want to make them stricter, ect. So it can't always be taken to the letter... http://www.usarec.army.mil/im/formpu...BS/R601_56.pdf
