What soldier said they were entitled to 3% raises annually. Where did you get that number?
What is your point?

Rich
The point Rich, is that this past decade has spoiled soldiers with annual raises of 2-3% and this has led to a lot of complaining throughout the military and websites other than this one. Comprende?

Inflation:

Since the 80's the government has 'faked the inflationary rate' by not counting the cost of energy (This includes gas) and food in their inflationary numbers...

Because no one here uses Gas, Electricity, or food right?

Don't buy into the lie.

As to GI's pay... Officers pay is good. However the enlisted live in substandard conditions and pay. Particularly when you compare.
Now that the economy is in the crapper it'll be less of an issue. But if ya'll with the short memories will recolect:

Those bonuses (Which they try to hide the 60% tax rate) HAD to be done to stay competitive with the civilian job market.
Simple economics.
Now, with a larger pool of applicants... Bonuses are not as much or as common.
Also simple economics.

Same with pay etc.
