it is so boring, I have been in Milwuakee for 3 years for my grad school, and I am glad i am leaving. In winter, you will see NOBODY anywhere, empty street, empty mall, it is empty in winter.
Wow, you have lived her for 3 years? Haven't you tried skiing-downhill or cross country, skating, sledding, bowling, the Museum, Domes or Zoo, or American Science and Surplus, book club? Just to name a few things off the top of my head.
Maybe you are not a winter person, but Milwaukee is hardly closed for the winter.
Wow.... You are getting terrible advice. Yeah if you want to take a trip to Bayshore to get out of the "Ghetto" INVESTED area of milwaukee. Or Third ward is nice but thats a hike from the downtown area ( Which is INVESTETED with the post poverty striken area, so many shops are closed, crime is high and beggers are EVERY WHERE. It only gets worse as you travel east, just past 19th street Not to mention the total lack of repair of the roads and new buisnesses coming into the area. For example, place a marriot to demolish a run down bar and parking structure... they would not do it.
Not to mention the weather. Why the heck would anyone even consider living here? It only gets worse as you travel east from the marquette campus, just past 19th street and north of state street is a no travel area.
Dude just move to Chicago if you like the midwest, its the crown jewel of the midwest and there is SOOOO much to do.
All the above posters neglect to mention the obscene amounts of crime, lack of fun activities and the overabundence of cold weather.
Hahah, bowling? Thats the best advice you can offer? Domes? Try looking into Chicago. Clearly I am a student at Marquette from my post but man, Chicago has so much more to do. Zoo's, Nice parks, Nice Beaches, oh my god, so much more. Milwaukee has just been rated one of the worst citities to live in, but you guys keep trying to defend it hahah, but goodluck. Also, to combat the domes.... (Try the field museum, art museum, Shed Aquarium.... oooo..... again the list goes on..... What a surprise.)
Go to Chicago or anywhere else, like practically on the east cost or in California.
Yes, Chicago is so great! Too bad they spend every weekend clogging up WI freeways to get away from the great city to come here for festivals, baseball games, Door County, Eagle River, etc, etc…..
There is no crime in Chicago, always something to do and the weather there is so very different than Milwaukee.
Milwaukee has no Zoo, nice parks, beaches or museums.
For the record, crime was mentioned early on in this thread, and is unfortunate…also par for the course in any urban area. I was in Chicago a few weeks ago and was panhandled…perhaps they were visiting from Milwaukee?

I will agree that Chicago is overall a better city, if city life is what you're into, but you have to keep in mind that Chicagoland has 11x the population of Milwaukee & suburbs. The rest of your post is horrible. Do you mean "infested" when you say "invested"? Those are two completely different things. Third Ward is adjacent to downtown, you can't put it much closer than it already is, so I have no idea where you got that. And are you suggesting that the area on State east of 19th is worse than west? Not sure why you used 19th Street as a reference anyways because it isn't an arterial; regardless, if you go east of 19th you go past the hospital, the courthouse, and then through downtown, and when you go west it gets kind of shady. For complaining about the OP getting bad advice, you sure give some yourself. The weather in Milwaukee is overall the same as Chicago, so that was irrelevant.

This post doesn't say much concerning a Marquette education. This is terrible.
if you go to milwaukee make sure you are on the good side of town. There are a lot of gang bangers so watch out. And u could go to the lakefront or go to the casino. You will find your way around
