Default Neighborhood of 76th St and Capitol Drive

I'm thinking of buying a house near N. 76th and Capitol Drive. I currently live on the southside of Milwaukee. Can anyone tell me if there is a problem with crime. Break ins etc., I would appreciate any information. I am a single woman living alone.

It's a racially mixed, middle-class neighborhood that has more of a suburban feel and a relatively low crime rate. I have a close female friend who lives around there and as far as I know she's never had any real problems aside from some a*hole neighbors who insisted on bumping their stereo at 1AM.

I agree with Devitron, it is not a terrible neighborhood. The farther west of 76th street the better, not neccessarily due to crime, but just less traffic, a little quieter, not quite so commercial.

If you keep to yourself, you'll be fine. Depending on where you live on the southside, you might actually find the northwest side to be much quieter/safer.

I personally would not live in that area. I worked right over there for awhile and I didn't feel comfortable alone inside at night, much less having to go outside alone. I don't think it's horrible, though. I don't know what the crime rates are specifically but you can find out here: Crime Maps and Statistics

When I lived in NO for a short while I had no idea the neighborhood I lived in was known as a bad neighborhood. I didn't see anything or hear anything and never felt uncomfortable. Then I saw the stats and I was shocked! Needless to say N.76th & Capitol is not what I would call a bad area at all. I wouldn't live in that area but not because of crime. If I did move over there I would buy a house west of 76th St, for the only fact that it is quieter over there.
