moving to the area in july. What are the best suburbs to live in? best schools, best commute, nice houses w decent sized lot? we have 3 children in elementary school. Looking to rent a house........pet friendly. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Greendale. The older parts have smaller yards, but there's more than enough green space and parkland to make up for it. The newer parts have more modern sized lots. Several different housing styles to choose from. Quaint older houses, 50's ranchers, 70's split levels, and modern oversized types. Walking trails everywhere. Nice little downtown area. Excellent schools.
The quickest link to downtown is under construction right now, but it's still less than 20 minutes when taking the side street detour in light traffic. Not sure about rush hour. Milwaukee is very compact compared to where I came from, so it seems like nothing is very far away.
