Hi,

I'm moving to Milwaukee from the Waukegan, Il(not a huge jump I know), but I don't know anything about the city. I've been a few times to a few concerts at The Rave, but that's about all I know. Can you all tell me some areas that would be safe for a young single female to live alone? And also somewhere that's not really a family area, more so a place with a younger demographic... a cool area so to speak(Does that exist in Milwaukee?). I would also like to keep the rent relatively low, so anything under $700.00 in a studio or 1 br. Any responses would be VERY much appreciated!

Hey, welcome to Milwaukee. I would definitely look around Brady Street in Milwaukee. There are alot of stores, restaurants, and nightlife within walking distance. Also, there are a bunch of expensive or reasonable apartments in the area. Generally, I would check craigslist or drive/walk around the area to find a place to rent.

Good luck on your move.

I used forrent.com to find places as well but turn to jsonline.com or c-list for good finds like duplexes and whole houses for rent as well as nice studios. You'll find cheap and large units for sale in Riverwest but is comes with a just be aware of your surroundings asterisk. The Brady st area can be expensive but you should be able to find a small- studio for 7 bills. Also a place I almost rented was prospect heights building on prospect ave. 1646 Prospect Ave. Locked lobby and great location.
