So sad-NOT a list on which you want to be #1. This is hopefully something that Milwaukee/Wisconsin residents will try to reverse soon.
2011 scores are in. Boston is #1.

Milwaukee tumbled to 3rd.

If you don't have an idea or an opinion about what the cause could be, how can you presume it to be a symptom of something greater?

I agree that there is a big drinking problem here. It's not everyone though. I have a circle of friends that drink responsibly if at all.

However, I have another circle of friends where drinking is very important to them. They get uncomfortable if there is no beer at a social setting. Alcohol is a very big part of their lives.

It's interesting how defensive some people are on this thread. I think you struck a nerve with them!

Drunkest Cities

Previous 30 / 40Next

30, Seattle-Tacoma

Ted S. Warren / AP Photo Average drinks, per person, per month : 12.59
Percent of adults who are heavy drinkers : 5.1
Percent of adults who are binge drinkers : 15.3
Deaths per 100,000 residents from alcoholic liver disease : 7.9

#30? Tsk Tsk!This is hopefully something that Seattle/Tacoma residents will try to reverse soon. Maybe Trinitylove can help!

Notice that that Seattle has more deaths per 100,000 residents from alcoholic liver disease than Milwaukee. Milwaukee is at 3.9.

It would be nice if we had judges that would hold people accountable for DD and cops as well. Stop letting these morons off with work release and probation. We shouldn't even have work release if it were up to me, if your dumb enough to get behind the wheel and drive and lose your licenses then maybe you are too stupid to act like an adult and function in society and deserve to lose your job beside there are plenty of hard working honest people with a bigger brain than god gave a goose to hold onto a job. That's it I'm done!

Apparently thin skin runs rampant in Milwaukee as well....sheesh, some of you are quite defensive. The thread starter hasn't been disrespectful and (s)he didn't publish the study. Cheers!

Trinitylove sounds like a real wet blanket...in addition to being a tad condescending. Yes, it's part of the culture for many in WI and Milwaukee, that's the way it is and the way many like it-nothing "sad" about it unless you are one of the minority contracting cirrhosis of the liver, racking up DUIs or committing domestic abuse under the influence.

Spot on! nobody says anything about vodka or wine cities. Beer gets crapped on all the time by wine snobs. "eh I don't drink beer, give me a great 1977 Merlot". -wine snob
