Does the demise of Northridge NOT have ANYTHING to do with Norquist's GREAT idea of subsidized housing just west of Northridge Mall? Otherwise knows as the north "ghettos" (technically North Meadows). I think it had ALOT do with.

As much as I disliked John Norquist as Mayor, this diasasterous housing idea can be layed at the feet (or grave) of the office holder before him. North Meadows was built in the early to mid 70's.

That would be Dreyfus??? I think. Yes, but wasn't it Norquist that decided that some/all of it should be subsidized. I think THATS the difference.

Dreyfus was a Governor. Think "Summerfest" grounds. Plus the fact that North meadows units were and still are condominiums privately owned. Many were then rented to alot of people who qualified for rent assistance.

Default Hair Salon

Does anyone remember the name of the hair salon at Northridge???
It was kind of expensive, the place where everyone went for trendy 80's cuts. (feathered and BIG hair). Me and my friend are going insane trying to remember the name of the place!!!! (there was also one with the same name at the Grand Avenue mall)

The area went downhill with the rise of gov. funded housing, changing the landscape, people walking on the side of the road. Kids trying to intimidate, someone in Glendale got shot in the parking lot for a gang dare/car jacking (one of many such horrible incidents lately). Unguided youth is to me the major problem. Women having way to many children by themselves quite often more than they can not afford mentally and financially, in the end the next generation is suffering. It is not just BD it is all of us, this can happen to anytown in the US.

I find the story of Brown Deer WI heartbreaking, and it is not over yet.

AAAARGH!!! Northridge is NOT in Brown Deer!!!

Brown Deer is anything BUT ghetto. You would seriously have to be scared of your own shadow if you thought that Brown Deer was ghetto!

Some areas in Brown Deer maybe safe, the area in general has some quality of life issues. My mistake if Northridge is not in Brown Deer, I in my many years living in the area had thought it was, it is right in the backyard of Brown Deer. I hope that my perceptions are wrong. I live in close and have seen the changes.
