I believe our house must have been close to where this shooting took place. We lived on a street called Goodrich Lane, the main retail intersection around there was Bradley Road and 43rd. I remember shopping at a supermarket called Red Owl that was on that intersection. I wonder what's there now?

Goodrich is a block north of Bradley. Woodale is a block or two south of Bradley. It's in the general vicinity, but obviously there's a major thoroughfare in the middle so there's a natural separation.
The supermarket there has been torn down and the site will be the future home of a
senior apartment complex. There's still a ratty-looking stripmall due west of the bowling alley on Bradley. Stores are still there, but it must be standing purely for nostalgia purposes, as the parking lot looks to be about 95% vacant at all times of the day. I think putting in a Walgreen's or CVS ---or better yet a locally controlled drugstore--- would be a real asset to that area due to the influx of senior citizens (51st & Bradley has another senior housing complex).

I don't understand the confusion at all. The street signs are different. The atmosphere is different. The police response is different. I'd cut some slack to the poster if they weren't so adamant in their stupidity. The Northridge area itself is no longer "bad" anyways (not the least bit dangerous) and is located about a mile away from Brown Deer's westernmost border.
