By yourself and with limited income? I have too much free time and dont know what to do with it. If it was up to me I'd stay in the house on my computer but my father keeps telling me im wasting my life on the internet and he had friends at my age, out exploring the world. Life will pass me by, he says.

Do you have a car? How old are you, roughly? I only ask that because it would affect your options.

Lake Park is a great place to explore. Lots of trails and cool views and hidden places. Do it in the daytime unless you are a reasonably stout fellow that looks intimidating. I used to go through there at night and never had a problem, but that was thirty years ago.

The domes are a good destination and they don't cost much. The zoo, the public museum, the art museum. Grant Park. The parks along the lake north, Harrington Beach and Kohler Dunes between Port Washington and Sheboygan are nice. Holy Hill out to the northwest by Hartford is fun to climb up to the top of the towers. Drive through Kettle Moraine. Cedarburg is nice to explore.

That's a good start.

It all depends on what you want and what you like. There's tons of things to do in Milwaukee. I like to go for a walk or a run along the lake, hang out at the beach, enjoy a coffee at Alterra while reading a book, take photos.... You could also join a club or a meetup group, go volunteer somewhere.
All free or reasonably cheap. But it's your life after all, not your dad's, so if you feel like spending time on the internet - go for it.

He's right, by the way. Not that going out to clubs, getting plastered, and telling drinking stories is really a more 'valid' way to spend one's time than say online gaming, but everyone has a passion for something... I'm thinking more like finding a good woman, raising a family ... you have to ask yourself if YOU will regret a life spent on the internet.... my answer to that question right now would be yes....

For me casual friends are not desired, only a family and wife. I don't see that changing. Everyone's different. Things I enjoy doing out here in the middle of nowhere... going to the casino for the all you can eat crab legs and playing some video keno... going to a state park to go hiking... take up road biking was the best thing I ever did.
