I am going there because my girl friend is doing her medical residency at the OC children's hospital. However, it was our 1st choice out of 15 programs. I would have preferred LA, but she didn't like the program as much. OC was a good compromise and also good job opportunities for me. I'm fairly confident she could have gone anywhere she wanted since Harvard, WashU and Stanford were all over her.

We will be living in Anaheim within walking distance to Angel Stadium & a 5 min drive to Disneyland. Rent will be $1800 for a 2 bed/ 2 bath modern condo complex built in 2007. Considering the North End has its rates listed at $1800-2100 for a 2 bed/ 2 bath here in Milwaukee I don't see why people would complain about cost of living.

Your girlfriend... Wow..that's really impressive. a mortgage on a $300,000 house is about $1,800 and in milwaukee that can get you quite a lot but rent is really edging up there. People are really getting fleeced when it comes to local rents. That expression seems to make sense since they might as well literally shear you but at least you can still buy affordable property.

Underground parking for my building here in Milwaukee is $100 for the first car, $135 for the second per month. That's brutal.

It's $275 where I am in Chicago and I bet many Bostonians would envy that.

Oh yes, $400-500 is the normal monthly rate in my area of Boston, in a garage.

An uncovered spot sold for over 500k in Boston a year ago.

What I miss?: Well, I'm down to one bottle of New Glarus Serendipity... I need a restock.
