I just think it's funny when someone roots against their friends and region. Especially when it's just because their local team isn't winning more than everyone else.

What does it matter if someone doesn't root for their team? Just because someone lives in a certain country or region doesn't automatically demand that they root for that team. I don't know, I'm american but I prefer other teams over the U.S. soccer team. It's not that big of a deal.

I just feel it's a character flaw.

It would be like not rooting for the U.S. at the Olympics. Very strange indeed.

EXACTLY like not rooting for the U.S. at the Olympics. And not even for a favorite team, just against the United States.

I root for the U.S. in the Olympics. Don't root for the U.S. in World Cup. Oh well

I don't recall watching Olympic soccer so the answer is no. Not sure why some feel it's odd not to root for the U.S. soccer team. Everyone else I know who watches soccer understands it. It's really not a big deal, I prefer other soccer teams over the U.S. And the fact that they just pushed thru after losing to Germany is ridiculous. I realize those are the rules however I still find it ridiculous.
