So I was just looking at this website.....

Crime in the United States by Metropolitan Statistical Area, 2013

Here you have some of the most safe areas of the country in Wisconsin. Like Wausau, Appleton, Eau Claire, La Crosse, Sheboygan, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac. Then you have Milwaukee...which is one of the most dangerous cities in the country right now. Why is that?

To see what I'm talking about look at these stats...

VIOLENT CRIME RATE (MSA)
Milwaukee MSA 587.1
Wausau MSA 93.3
Appleton MSA 124.2
Eau Claire MSA 124.6
La Crosse MSA 122.9
Sheyboygan MSA 141.8
Oshkosh MSA 159.3
Fond du Lac MSA 196.2
U.S. National ave 367.9

PROPERTY CRIME RATE (MSA)
Milwaukee MSA 3064.2
Wausau MSA 1544.7
Appleton MSA 1385.0
Eau Claire MSA 1687.3
La Crosse MSA 1844.5
Sheyboygan MSA 1793.8
Oshkosh MSA 1721.1
Fond du Lac MSA 1619.3
U.S. National ave 2730.7

MURDER RATE (MSA)
Milwaukee MSA 7.0
Wausau MSA 1.5
Appleton MSA 0.4
Eau Claire MSA 1.2
La Crosse MSA 1.5
Sheyboygan MSA 0.9
Oshkosh MSA 0.0
Fond du Lac MSA 1.0
U.S. National ave 4.5

You see what I mean? It's like a difference between night and day.

Milwaukee is a major metropolitan area--that's the only reason that's necessary..

Comparing a city of 600,000 to homogenous northwoods towns that don't even have a tenth of that population? Yea, you're totally NOT trolling.

Either way, last I checked, Milwaukee's violent crime rate was 1 in 100... or a 99% chance you WON'T become a victim of violent crime in Milwaukee in any given year. If THAT'S enough for someone to avoid going somewhere, then I feel bad for them and the sheltered, unadventurous life they must lead.

*Bookmarks this post for the next time someone tells me I'm a "snob" for calling out the unjustified paranoia about crime in Milwaukee*

This is a serious question? Milwaukee=large metropolitan city. All the others=not. I can't believe that you really do not understand this.

Thanks for letting me know that Milwaukee has a higher crime rate than Oshkosh and Appleton, I would have never guessed this.

If you don't think there is a very real issue with crime in Milwaukee right now, you are in some serious denial.

Yeah, there are at most two real cities in Wisconsin. Lots of people would say just one, Milwaukee.
