It is September and true winter weather is a good three months away even up there. Your fall weather is beautiful so I would look forward to enjoying it. Now if you dread winter so bad that your thinking about it now then moving is an option. However as another poster pointed out we do get some winter weather in the South. It is just much milder than what your used too. That does not mean that you will never see snow, it does snow down here. Ice storms are a real issue here as well. Snow and cold never stay here for long though so no doubt its much easier to deal with than it is in Wisconsin. The only places in the US where you can totally rid yourself of winter is the California coast, the southern half of Florida and of course Hawaii.

I don't blame you for wanting out. Wisconsin is a nice state and all of that, but it's only 1 of 50 states and you live in hundreds of places that would probably suit you much better. Don't make the mistake of trying to stick it out if you don't like it. People do that and can eventually get stuck, unable to move as a result of circumstance, timing, finances, etc. If you want to leave, make a plan and go for it. A lot of other people leave for the same reason as you.

2 OP: find yourself a fall/winter hobby. It better be outdoors, rather than indoors. Then, you can look forward to it.

Here's how I make it through Milwaukee winters:
  • Evolution - Ping pong leagues in an upscale bar setting. Third Ward
  • Rays Mtb - Indoor mountain biking. North side.
  • Weekly Comedy Shows - Pick any comedy venue
  • New cuisine - pick a cuisine you've always wanted to master, and do it.

Podo44...I cannot stand the cold and snow. We don't see much of the sun. The clouds block the sun. It gets dark early. I don't like shoveling the snow. I don't like waking up extra early to clean off my car. I don't like slipping and sliding on the sidewalk and/or streets. People act like they have never driven in the wintertime. There seems to be a depression that goes along with winter called the wintertime blues. People seem to hibernate...you can't blame them, because there's not a lot to do in the snow. The snow turns into an awful color after it's been on the ground too long. I just don't like winter. It seems like it lasts forever here in Wisconsin.

I don't hibernate at all. I spend more time indoors at 90 degrees plus than I do on a typical winter day.

If you think "people act like they have never driven in the wintertime" in Wisconsin, just wait until you get to Texas, haha....

As do I. My body shuts down at 85-90. I'd much rather it be 20.

You have 3 choices:
- move to another state with warmer weather
- learn to enjoy what you got
- keep on being depressed during winters

Either choice is fine with me.
