Hi all, my wife and I are going to be moving to Milwaukee and we are considering some homes in the Cambridge Woods neighborhood. Anyone have any thoughts on this area for young professionals? We don't have any kids (nor do we plan on kids any time soon) and we have a dog. The area seems nice - right of the trail/nature area, walkable to some shops/restaurants, and a bit more diverse than Shorewood/WFB. We are a little concerned, however, about being too close to the college - don't want to be dealing with crime/college parties all the time.

We are also considering Wauwatosa and Bay View. Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

That is a good area, and I know several professors and other professionals who live there. There will be students, too, however, and noise can vary from year to year, block to block. You may want to try talking with some homeowners in the area to get their view on things. From what I understand, this is not a high crime area for the campus, but some things do happen on occasion. The northern part of the neighborhood tends to be quieter and safer than the southern part near Oakland Ave., from what I understand.

Thanks for the info. We're looking in the northern part, and it does seem relatively quiet with mostly long term residents rather than student renters. I think some noise can be expected given the location, and we're ok with that. It is the city after all. I may try to drive by one of these days and try to catch one of the neighbors outside...

I live nearby. It's a quiet area and close Shorewood and everything on the upper east side. I especially like Cambridge next to the Oak Leaf Trail and the Milwaukee River. Good luck, it's great location.
