I going to be buying a house real soon, and I don't want to be too far from my husband's job. Are there any good areas in Milwaukee, that are a large area of homeowners, that are quiet and peaceful? How is the St. Joe's hospital area? Does anyone know any good parts? Thank you for your time.

I don't think there any safe neighborhoods in milwaukee. I wouldn't send my dead dog to mps.

I live five blocks from St. Joe's. Overall it's a nice place to live. The blocks north and west of St. Joe's are a lot nicer than the blocks east and south of St. Joe's. The upper 40s and 50s between Burleigh and Keefe is a nice neighborhood. Mostly homeowners, nice houses, quiet streets, lots of families. Very close knit community, strong block watch clubs, friendly neighbors.

The only noise is the thumping bass and the persistent horn honking. For the life of me I will never understand why people think it's better to sit in front of someone's house blasting their horn rather than get out of the car and ring the doorbell, or call on the cell phone. And, while I can appreciate rap music as an art form, when it's thumping so loud out of bass speakers it startles the dog and rattles the windows, it gets to be much. Luckily this only happens occasionally when a car passes by (not parked in a neighbor's driveway).

Bottom line: north of St. Joe's is a nice neighborhood but it will cost you more than most West Side neighborhoods. West of St. Joe's is more affordable, but still a nice neighborhood with nice, brick homes and tree lined streets.

I would recommend against the neighborhood just east of St. Joe's, The 40s south of Burleigh. Those blocks are almost entirely rentals. It's not a place I even like to walk the dog through.

Washington Heights is also very nice. US41 on the East, 60th on the West, North Avenue on the north, Vliet on the South. Very nice neighborhood.

Wow, Thanks a bunch I kind of thought the same thing. There are really some nice homes in that area. I'm currently looking into one right now.

My husband is getting transferred to Milwaukee. He will be working at the airport. Any affordable, diverse, safe neighborhoods close to the airport? We would rather live in a diverse area because we are an interracial couple. The other thing that is important to us is a good, Bible-teaching, God-loving church. A church that would welcome us and become an extended family. Any places like that?
