most of Milwaukee is VERY urban and densly packed. Little to no parks. There is no winter activities like skating on majority of parks. Many parks are unsafe as well (I wouldn't want to be caught at Washington Park afterhours!!!!)

There is so much ghetto and trash in Milwaukee its not even funny. They are doing a lot to clean it up, but again, Milwaukee is a very URBAN city. Madison, Twin Cities both blow it away when it comes to parks and what they have to offer.

Just because there is a small park in Milwaukee that has some swingsets and walking paths doesn't mean its any good. The lake front and parks in the suburbs are good, but in the heart of MKE, not soo good.
I'm not sure I'd frequent the parks located in Milwaukee's ghetto area, but there are some nice parks located within the city:

Lake Park and the other lakeside parks (McKinley, South Shore, etc.)
Little Menomenee (west side)
Kinnickinnic River Parkway and contiguous parks (south side)
Mitchell Park (near south side)

There are many in the suburbs, but a couple of my favorites are:

Root River Parkway and contiguous parks
Doctors Park
Warnimont Park

I wouldn't advise people in any big city to walk the parks at night. This goes for Milwaukee as well as Minneapolis, and it goes for San Francisco, NYC, and Paris. Circumstances may be safer in smaller places like Madison and in the outer Milwaukee burbs, but I would still advise against it.

Platinum Key is on a distinguished road
Ok I was borned and raised in Milwaukee. I have lived here my whole life. This has to be the dumbest named thread in the world. Are there beautiful areas and parks or is it all pretty much ugly. LOL LOL LOL. What? There is pretty parts and nasty parts in every major cities and alot of small cities too. Im sure in Denver or where ever your from theres pretty and ugly. In NYC theres pretty and theres ugly. In LA theres pretty and theres ugly. Now come on. Of course theres nice areas and not so nice areas. If you want to live in the ghetto then youll probably see the ugly side. If you want to live in a nice area youll see the pretty side. There is alot of crime in Milwaukee. There is a huge part of the city thats ghetto. Even way out on 92nd and Brown Deer Rd its ghetto. Even way out on 110th and Mill Rd its ghetto. You have to just visit and see. Its not like LA where the houses still look half way decent but still in the ghetto. Here the ghetto looks like the ghetto. Theres no part of Milwaukee you have to be scared to drive thru or anything. You just have to mind your business and youll be fine. Have good common sense. Now with that being said theres areas of Milwaukee that are great. In the summer its very hot and humid. Theres tons and tons of things to do. Plenty of malls. Muesums. Zoos. Fests. Concerts. Casino. The lakefront in the summer theres no where else Id rather be. In the winter its very cold and snows almost everyday. Pretty boring and not much to do. I like to hybernate in the winter. PPL are very friendly. Many clubs and bars. Nice size Downtown. Marqette Interchange is brand new and one of the best in the country. < I hope so cause I went thru alot of S$&^ the last 5 years while they rebuilt it > So to answer your question. NO ITS NOT ALL PRETTY MUCH UGLY. Theres some ugly and ghetto parts U would not want to go and theres some beautiful parts that you would not want to leave. You just have to find the right area for you. It would be a good idea to come and visit for a week just to see whats what. Ask around because like previously stated theres bad areas kinda spread out. Trust me I would not tell U wrong. Milwaukee is one of my favorite cities I have ever been to just happens I was borned and raised here so I lucked out. Hope you well and you wont be disappointed. PeAcE.
