Default Tell me more about living in Cedarburg

Hi, my husband and I are interested in moving to Cedarburg in the next 1-2 years to raise our family, ages 2 and 4 years. We have lived in the city of Milwaukee for the past 20 years when we 1st came here for college. I'm very much a "city girl" so it's been hard to think about moving to the 'burbs but Cedarburg does appeal to me (in fact, it's the only suburb my husband and I can agree on!). We know a couple of families who live in Cedarburg and love it but will it be a big culture shock for a woman who likes a lot about urban living? Some things I like about Cedarburg are the neighborhoods with sidewalks, the cute downtown area, the parks. I'm just worried it will seem too much like a small town after the initial novelty wears off. Will I feel isolated from my friends who still live in Milwaukee county? Is it so far that I'll never get to the east side or downtown or see my friends? Also, the people in Cedarbrug I meet seem soooo nice. Is that an accurate perception? As you can tell, leaving Milwaukee would be a big move for me (my husband's ready!) and I would love it if someone could share more about their experiences with Cedarburg.

Cedarburg is and up and thriving area. Go for it! No, with I43 you are not far from Bayshore Mall which has been rennovated and updated. Cedarburg has great schools, ball teams, kids' activities and a marvelous downtown area. Restaurants galore! What are you waiting for? I didn't live in the town of Cedarburg but west of 76th Street and loved it.

Thanks for your e-mail!! I'm finally feeling ready to move. We've been taking little day trips to Cedarburg to get a feel for the area and we love it. Our kids love it, too!

The only thing holding us back right now is my husband teaches in Milwaukee; he needs to find a teaching job in another district before we can move. The residency requirement is a bummer-MPS may be losing another good teacher!

Thanks again for your thoughts!
