I THINK STL IS ABOUT THE SIZE(LAND AREA) OF MILWAUKEE, WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF PEOPLE. BUT DETROIT IN LAND SIZE IS MUCH LARGER THAN MILWAUKEE, AND HAS WAY MORE PEOPLE

I've been to LA a lot lately as well testing with the LAFD. The last time I stayed in a pretty bad area and relied on public transportation. I was standing around at train stops in Watts and other places in South Central LA. It's funny how a lot of those places that are in the "bad" areas, look nicer than most places over here. haha

YOU ARE 100% CORRECT MANY THE AREAS ARE NICE, YOU WOULD NOT EVEN THINK THEY ARE GHETTOS..

In both of those cities, I never was even close to having a problem. Yea, gangs are still terrible, but they usually kill each other. Innocent bystanders may get hurt on occasion, but if you don't live in the area, you're usually fine.
1.MILWAUKEE-census population (rank): Land area: 96 sq mi.(249 km);
PROPER-578,887

2.DETROIT-Land area: 138.8 square miles for Detroit
detroit proper is only 950,000+
detroit metro area is 6 million

3.STL-Land area: 62 sq mi. (161 sq km)
census population (rank): 348,189

4.CHICAGO-Land area: 227.1 square miles for Chicago
PROPER-2,833,321

Does it have a problem? Yea sure but it's also quite segregated from the rest of the city. If you have a family, you are perfectly safe in the suburbs. In fact, I am more scared of the cops in the suburbs than crime. They have too much time on their hands and will pull you over for anything. The gangs in Milwaukee are very concentrated on the north side and the south side of the city. Once you become familiar with Milwaukee you learn the "invisible boundaries" and where not to go and when not to go there. I live in the downtown area and I've never felt unsafe.

The hippies on the east side! I love living near brady street and watching the hippies hang out in the summer. Head down to the corner bar, Thurman's, and have a drink with a bunch of Jerry Garcia lovin' folks. Great times! Moderator cut: inappropriate
