Default Family Genealogy Surname Reich

I will be searching my fathers family genealogy when I move to your area, my grandfather was born in Wisconsin, and my father in Minnesota. I am sure my grandmother was also born in the area.

Where can I find the local genealogy societies?

My maiden name is Reich, very German, and I believe my grandfather and grandmothers families stayed in the area. I am excited to possibly find more information.

The UWM library has a very good cache of records and probably would be the best first choice. The Milwaukee Public Library downtown has a great humanities room with all sorts of information. There are other sources such as the Historical Society but the first two may help you the most. If your grandfather was elsewhere in Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Historical Society in Madison might be the next logical choice.

Thanks so much,

My grandfather was born in Stratford Wisconsin, his name was Fredrick Ernest Reich, my Great Grandfather was Frank Ernest Reich born in Germany.

It will be a lot of fun to finally do the research on the Reich side of the family.

For Stratford, you could probably ask questions here. Marathon County may have a historical society with records. Otherwise, like I said the Wisconsin Historical Society will be a great source.
