If you can't give good advice, do not advise at all.

Smile Milwaukeean's Point of View

All of Capitol Drive isnt bad..I lived off 7th & Capitol as child and grew up in that area..near Messmer HS
Between Green Bay Ave & 19th and Capitol very nice home values on the North of Capitol Dr...and in the Rufus King Area...however, when you get to Atkinson Avenue to Midtown not good..too much congestion and crime..people hanging out..home values are lower..then...from 65th to 92nd and Capitol very good--one reason past 76th & Capitol Dr..going about 3 blocks South you are in Wauwatosa a nice Milw County suburb.

Have you looked into the Riverwest area? Some crime but manageable and lots of houses for sale cheap. Though I'd imagine foreclosures could hit that area hard crime wise if there ends up being a bunch of empty houses.

Bad things can happen anywhere. I'm in the burbs of Waukesha and there was a murder here just a couple of days ago.

As for the original post, what about Washington Heights? Some beautiful homes there, but near an area some might consider scary.

Dineen Park is over 64 acres. It's not gigantic but to call it a "few city blocks" is definetly a understatement. I swam at the pool growing up, it had a golf course (now a disc golf course), swimming pool and a decent little pond. It's actually pretty big. I know I'm pretty late posting!

There's this ridiculous misconception in Milwaukee that any area that is predominately black is ghetto....it really offends me. Personally, I don't consider ANY area in this city west of 43rd/Sherman Blvd ghetto (of course there a few "rough patches" here and there). Especially on Capitol Drive....anything west of 35th is decent. Not perfect, but definitely not "ghetto".
