Default Dineen Park?

What's Dineen Park and its area like? I'm seeing a bunch of affordably priced houses in the area that look well-maintained (at least from the pics online). I know that going east would rapidly get into the ghetto, but what's the immediate area around the park like? I'm relocating from the Bronx and have a fairly high ghetto-tolerance, just looking for a house on the border of ghetto and nice--probably all i can afford.

Dineen Park is a small park that only takes up a few city blocks. Dineen Park is somewhere around 68th St and Capitol Drive. The houses around there probably are as good as the pics you saw, but there's probably some drug dealings or other lesser criminal activities going on around there. You'd have to go east to at least 43rd St. or more likely even 35th St. to really get into the hood. And even then, it's not as tough as the Bronx.

What the heck do you know? I was born and raised in Milwaukee and lived here all my life except for one year in Seattle. I grew up on the northwest side, went to James Madison High, and had friends that went to Marshall High (not far from Dineen). Capitol Drive could be considered ghetto depending on ones definition. Just because an area appears nice doesn't mean it is.

43rd & Capitol Dr: man robbed about six months ago while gassing up his vehicle at about 5PM. Shot and killed after surrendering.

27th & Capitol Dr: woman shot and killed in fast food restaurant ordering food, again around 5PM in the afternoon.

Teutonia & Capitol Dr: guy waiting for a bus is robbed. The perpetrators don't know who they're messing with and get nothing. That guy was ME.

The last two happened in the distant past, when the area was supposedly better than it is now.

So, yeah, I'll call it ghetto if I feel like it.

Thank God there is someone who knows what they're talking about. My husband grew up on 49th and Center and even though they had a nice house; that didn't stop some wack job from speeding from the police the wrong way on a one way street and hitting a garage. By the way, that was 20 years ago and he says even he wouldn't walk down that street after dark in this day in age. As for the person who claimed that Capitol isn't ghetto, I guess it does depend on your definition how many people have to get shot on your block before you consider it ghetto? As far as how bad Capitol really is, yeah there are dangerous parts and there are a lot of nice areas. And yes there are neighbourhoods worse than the ones on Capitol. Like 4th and Keefe (isn't that near Capitol?).

Yep, Keefe is between Capitol & Burleigh. In my opinion, Capitol is bad all the way to Estabrook Park on the eas side but the worst areas are between 43rd & Green Bay Ave

i think those are ur opinions but you can get robbed and shot anywhere, my mother was robbed in greendale at gunpoint byb southridge, a student i remember was recently shot by UWM and there has been robberies in that area most likely by people who reside in the area..

I used to live in the Dineen park area. And its not THAT bad, as long as you stay away from the side of the park near Appleton Ave. I wouldn't dare get caught hanging around thouse apartments or townhouses after dark...
