Deer Run Apartments in Brown Deer
My family and I are moving to Milwaukee so that I can take a new job. While we look for a house, I'm signing a lease on a townhome in Deer Run Apartments in Brown Deer. Can anyone tell me if this is a nice apartment complex in a safe area? I've heard mixed reviews of Brown Deer. Thank you very much for your assistance.

I don't know the apartment complex as I've never been inside, but that's a nice area, and I don't think you'd have any problems there. I very occasionally see notices in the police blotter about minor crimes at the shopping center just south on Route 57, but I go over there all the time and haven't had any issues or felt unsafe. Those kinds of things happen anywhere there are large shopping centers, I suppose.
All and all I think you'd be fine in that area; it's really a great location as it puts you not too far from just about anything. I think most of the concern about Brown Deer on this board was about the parts bordering Milwaukee on the south and west ends; this apartment complex is on the opposite end bordering two upscale suburbs, River Hills and Mequon, so I wouldn't worry about the Brown Deer address in this case. As far as Brown Deer goes, this is probably one of the more desirable sections in which to live.
I know this area pretty well, so if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

I lived and managed at Deer Run for 8 years (90-98). The location is fine as you are sandwiched between two of the wealthiest suburbs in the state, Mequon and River Hills. I know someone who still resides at Deer Run. His only complaint is alot of dogs...it is a pet friendly community...so, if you dont like dogs, you may find it to be trying. But if your only going to be there a short time, you may be able to live with it. Im sure it is still maintained and managed professionally, and the location is very convenient to all parts of the metro area. Good luck!

Some apartment complex are run very well, but there are some that are not. In Brown Deer if you bring something to the attention of the Village it will get taken care of. Now as far as safety Brown Deer does not border 76th street as some people think. I live in the place where people think there is crime, but the only crime is usually at the middle school. The neighborhood is safe, and I walk all over and feel completely safe.

With respect guys, I don't even think this poster knows what in the hell she is talking about in reference to a "shopping center on Brown Deer Rd."
I believe - reading through all of her posts in context - that she is likely referencing Northridge, which doesn't even exist anymore (nor has it for years).
Otherwise, it is completely impossible to even understand where the OP is speaking of, as there are a few "shopping centers" (in terms of a strip type of center) on Brown Deer Rd.
Pretty much anywhere you shop "on Brown Deer Rd." is just fine east of 76th St.
