Question Safe place between Pewaukee and UWM

I just accepted a job in Pewaukee and need to move within two weeks. I'm getting a bit stressed about finding an apartment to rent since I probably won't get a chance to see it in person before committing to it (I'm currently in Raleigh, NC). My husband will transfer to UWM.

Where is a good place (and safe! this forum has scared me a little...) to live? Anyone have a suggestion of a specific apartment complex? From reading posts it seems like Brookfield might be a good in between point, the only place I have found so far is Norhardt Crossing, has anyone heard of them and know if they are good or not?

Thank you! I am excited about the move, it looks like there is a lot to do in Milwaukee!

It depends on what you are looking for. If you do not have children and you are looking for an apartment, I would suggest that you look at apartments in Wauwatosa or downtown. The western commute to Pewaukee isn't that bad. I commuted for many years from both tosa and Milwaukee to the Waukesha area. If you have children, Brookfield or west for aprtments would be a good choice. Good luck! I know that you will like the area!

Norhardt Crossing is in a good area but pretty pricey for no good reason except that they're newer...but I'm sure you'd be happy enough there. Pinewood Creek Apartments in New Berlin is nice and close to shopping...and Brookfield, but closer to the freeway to head both east and west.
I would think lease options are important in case you want to move elsewhere once you get to see the cities and your options. Both are very safe!! Let us know where you end up! Good luck!

Default Sussex

We lived in Sussex for 15 years (now is Chicago area)
Sussex is a fine town that is growing and pretty safe.
There is the occasional rowdy teenager thing that all towns have but I know many people who do not lock doors at night.

Daughter commuted to UWM every day with few hassles and Pewaukee is about 10 minutes away.'

There are several mulitfamily units that seemed OK in Sussex.

I looked at Norhardt Crossing in May and probably would have signed there if the rent wasn't so high. I ended up signing for an apartment in New Berlin (Fountain Square) and am moving at the end of the month.

UWM has shuttles from Park and Rides all over. Not sure if any are located in Waukesha County, but I took one all the way from Oak Creek which is south Milwaukee County.

Default Another apartment - The Club at Brookfield Hills

I have seen another apartment complex in Brookfield, The Club at Brookfield Hills, you can google it. The prices seem reasonable enough to me, but all the rental prices seem pretty good since I am coming from New York.

It is south of the 94 on Moorland, surrounded by a golf course. Good luck.
