jennserg is on a distinguished road
Hello, all. Again, thanks for all of the input. We are here. My husband arrived in October and we followed the first week of December....just in time for the "warm" weather welcome!!

We purchased a beautiful colonial in south Hales Corners, right on the border of Franklin. 8 mile commute to work and a "compromise"....14 year old home with lots of nice custom touches. And considering the way the weather has been, we are glad we settled closer to our offices.

Thanks, again, for all the input and Happy New Year!!

PS-Fish Fry's are great!

Congrats on your purchase, jennserg, and your relocation! I will now pat myself on the back for my Franklin / Muskego recommendations for you, as you ended up pretty darn close!

Actually, I reside in Greendale - your neighbor to the east - and really have grown fond of Hales Corners and think it is an underrated 'burb in the metro. Actually, all-in-all, I have grown quite fond of the whole Greendale-Franklin-Hales Corners-Muskego area in general for this metro.

Although I work in Downtown Milwaukee, my family and I often attend a large church in Muskego, and to do so (from Greendale), we take Grange Ave. from Greendale directly through Hales Corners to get to Muskego, and I really like the wooded lots and the beauty of the community.

Welcome to metro Milwaukee!! (Even though right now, you may be fiercely missing the climate of Texas).

Also being close to Lake Michigan offers you the chance to parasail, kayak, canoe, hike trails along Lake Michigan. Another added bonus is the popular Ozaukee County Express Bus line, that runs from Port Washington south to downtown. This is perfect when you don't want to deal with summerfest parking and Brewer game parking as well, this line often runs later so you can take it downtown to many of the festivals/events downtown. With stops in Port Washington/Grafton/Cedarburg/Mequon and downtown Milwaukee.

Edit: Sorry, I missed the OPs response yesterday...so you can ignore the following...

Yeah, that is a good tip. I know Waukesha County better than other counties outside of MKE, so...there is also Kettle Moraine South to the West of Milwaukee, depending on what you like to do. KM South has great mountain bike trails (those were may favorite when I mountain biked) and some good hiking trails, I love that area.

There are lots of lakes in Waukesha County, if you like water sports. Also, the Ice Age Trail winds through Waukesha (as well as many other counties in the area).

In Waukesha, I know that there is a lot of development going on in Sussex, which has the bug line trail running through it, & Pewaukee, which is one city south of Sussex...and many other areas around there, as mentioned by others previously.
