New Subdivisions around Milwaukee?
We are looking to buy a new home in the suburbs of MKE and would like some input on different builders and subdivisions.
We are family oriented and outdoor enthusiasts. Any input on reputable builders and different communities would be great.
Anywhere up to 30 miles outside of MKE is ok.

We just purchased a home in Eagle a little further out, but nice. We literally have looked everywhere except Milwaukee since his job is in New Berlin. New housing is most affordable North in Jackson, Slinger and Hartford. There is a subdivision in Jackson that is nice and affordable. The builder there is Brookstone homes. There you can buy a Beilinski or Brookstone home in new subdivisions. We chose to go West. We liked Oconomowoc, Pewaukee and other surrounding areas. The prices of homes are going down, and will continue to drop as we get closer to winter. If you go onto WIhomes.com you can do a search of mls listings.
Good luck to you, it took us three trips and 100 showings to finally find a home.

Where is it you will be working, what sort of commute is acceptable? If you need to drive every day into the City or can allow for a nice Bus ride... From out in Oconomowoc I was a HUGE fan of COACH USA, they had two buses inbound in the AM and outbound in the PM for commuters. Clean comfortable coaches and a nice ride in with a bus load of regulars that almost becomes family like, no parking hassle, no rush hour dealings, just relax and read or snooze.
The Schools are GREAT in Oconomowoc too. I have nothing but wonderful experiences with them. Pewaukee is the other suburb I've experienced first hand. There is new deveopment there also but nothing along the lines of the growth in Oconomowoc.

Grafton in Ozaukee county is a growing area. It is about 30 miles or less of the city (north).

All of these are fine suggestions. I would also recommend checking out Franklin and Muskego...both rapidly growing, very nice suburbs of Milwaukee with tons of new construction. Family-oriented, safe communities.
Actually, this year's Parade of Homes is in Muskego. About as affordable to me as Eternal Life Happiness, but hey, some people have different budgets!!

Brookstone Homes has a lovely neighborhood located in the NorthWest corner of Milwaukee, It borders the little Menomonee Parkway; River View. Their New Homes are very affordable; starting in the $220k's. I have some friends that built with Brookstone Homes & they say that the building process was easy & enjoyable! I know they are halfway sold out at River View... Brookstone also builds outside of Milwaukee in Slinger, Jackson, Hartford, Saukville & West Bend.

For this purpose I would move to Mequon/Cedarburg area in Ozaukee County. Not only is it the cheapest county to live in(property/sales tax) but it's closer to Kohler-Andrae park, Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, Harrington Beach, Northern Kettle Moraine Unit. Also being close to Lake Michigan offers you the chance to parasail, kayak, canoe, hike trails along Lake Michigan. Another added bonus is the popular Ozaukee County Express Bus line, that runs from Port Washington south to downtown. This is perfect when you don't want to deal with summerfest parking and Brewer game parking as well, this line often runs later so you can take it downtown to many of the festivals/events downtown. With stops in Port Washington/Grafton/Cedarburg/Mequon and downtown Milwaukee.
