Ron Burgundy will become famous soon enoughRon Burgundy will become famous soon enough
How many times does this have to get refuted?

Let's start here: A city does not have to lie within Milwaukee County to be a suburb.

The listed areas are considered suburbs because their entire economic entities depend on the City of Milwaukee. Without it, they wouldn't exist near in the capacity they do today. They (and you) can deny it all they want, but it doesn't make it remotely true.

Also, never heard of a suburb inside city limits, unless you're speaking of the far NW side. Even then, anything inside city limits is the city itself.

This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard!!! even if Waukesha was 100,000 it would still be a suburb and always will be. This another problem I have with Milwaukeeans that includes you Waukesheans is the lack of big city thinking from people in this area not giving enough credit to own Metro area. We have 2,000,000 in our area and another 1,000,000 just in Milwaukee county(including illegals) and urban density of around 6,500/mi. and 625,000 including illegals. This whole woe is me little Milwaukee attitude needs to stop and start being proud of where your from!!!!

Face it Mukwonago is a suburb, so is Racine, and Oconomowoc and Lac La Belle and Wales. You should be glad your part of a Metro area and not half dumpy little Waukesha because nobody outside of WI has even heard of Waukesha like they have of even Brookfield which is like Milwaukee's Shaumburg. I'm sick of this small town attitude and people around here need to start sticking up for Milwaukee because believe it or not all of Milwaukee isn't a black ghetto!!!!!

We have a lot more going for our city than any other city our size due to being so close to Chicago, ever been to Cincy its completely boring!!!!!or the Twin Cities its like being in Madison.

Isn't Kenosha considered part of the Chicago Metro area? If so, then Waukesha and Racine should be part of the Milwaukee Metro area.

I think many of the communities, in the "bad" category have some nice qualities. Are we only rating based on the top ten places rich people live? South Milwaukee was rated very highly in Milwaukee magazine as well as Cudahy as nice places to raise a family, beautiful lake shore views and some historic old houses much more affordable than the north shore. As someone from out of state, I will never fully understand why south of Milwaukee gets such a bad rap.

Thank you for clarifying and I agree whole heartedly.
I found Cudahy to be friendly with very reasonale housing stock and great proactive government. I look forward to working with them and hope I can end up there because to me it was a great place.

Can't speak for other posters, but I am not. I live in Greendale which is hardly a "rich people" area and think it is one of the nicest, most underrated communities in the entire Milwaukee metro!

But to the last two posters, as far as Cudahy / South Milwaukee -

Hey, if you like them, that's great! This is just a subjective poll based on personal interests / preferences remember...just because I or others are not huge fans of Cudahy doesn't mean others aren't.

Also remember, that is just a part of a Top X / Bottom X listing...you'll always have to put communities at the bottom, even if you don't think they are dreaded crud-holes, etc. I am not a huge fan of either Cudahy or South Milwaukee, however, sure, like most geographic cities/regions/areas, etc., they offer their good qualities and their bad. It is up to the individual to determine if a particular community best suits their individual interests.
