1) Chenequa( if you can afford the Million + for a mansion on one of those beautiful quiet lakes)
2)Oconomowoc lake( same as above only add several more millions)
3)Silver Lake in Oconomowoc
4) Pewaukee or Nagawicka(on the lake)
5) Wales(legend of Brandybrook)
6) Whitefish bay, Shorewood, Bayside(honestly know it is nice, but only driven by the towns once or twice since we moved here)
7) Cedarburg(cute town)
8) Delafield, Hartland or Pewaukee
9) Brookfield
10)Elmgrove
I don't know enough about the other places to rate them badly. There are parts of Milwaukee I wouldn't want to live in for sure.

In my opinion, Brown Deer belongs nowhere near the bottom 10. I'd toss it in the underrated queue with Glendale, as there are many fine parts of the village and not a place I'd feel uncomfortable in.
This isn't related to anything here per se, but I get annoyed with out-of-county residents leaching off the benefits of their proximity to Milwaukee, yet take great care to distance themselves geographically, economically, and socially from the city which gave their towns the very existence. That's my Bottom 10.

Yeah Brown Deer shouldn't be in the bottom 10 but when you say Brown Deer the first thing people ask is "hear any gun shots latley" it's the same thing I put up with in Walkers Point.

My list in terms of where I would want to live if money wasn't a strong factor:
TOP 10
1. Shorewood
2. Whitefish Bay
3. Glendale
4. Franklin
5. Greendale
6. Menomonee Falls
7. Oconomowoc
8. Hales Corners
9. River Hills
10. Thiensville
LEAST FAVORITE 10 (just in terms of where I would prefer to live...in general, there is nothing *wrong* with these communities):
1. South Milwaukee
2. Cudahy
3. Hartford
4. West Milwaukee
5. West Bend
6. West Allis (still too gritty for my preferences)
7. Mukwonago
8. St. Francis (improving though)
9. Jackson (too far out and pricey in the Village)
10. Port Washington (too far out and way too chilly)

Eagle is an unincorporated zone (High Taxes) like there aren't any there to begin with...sheesh. But it's a nice small community in Southwestern Waukesha County.
Waukesha is beginning to clean up it's act. Great public transportation along with the newer bus depot. The downtown is really cleaning it act up. Sadly there will always be a hispanic influence, positive as well as negative there.
Lake Country is all nice areas, Pewaukee in it's close proximity, Heartland still with it's small town atmosphere and Oconomowoc with it's very excellent schools and many lakes. Okauchee Lake is really populated with little cottages now used year round. The richer Delafield and Nagawaukee are very nice areas. North Lake is more removed and a bit more rural.
