So I have lived in Walker's Point for 3 years now and I agree I wouldn't have lived here even 10 years ago due to crime or lack of development in the neighborhood. Now there's condo's going up everywhere and boutique shops popping up as well and the Third Ward effect is rolling right over the Milw river into Walker's Point. Studios in Walker's Point now range from $100,000-$250,000, condo's going from $120,000-$1,000,000 along the Milw river. Rents range anywhere from 500-1500/month. This would not happen in area filled with crime and lack of development but yet I get remarks like "you live inthe ghetto"or "why would you put your family in danger". I imagine people in Brewers Hill get the same response. I say Walker's Point is not dangerous and I'll even say it's a safe area to live, so here are this years up to today crime stats:

Aggravated Asslt- 1
Arson- 0
Burgalries- 4
Stolen Cars- 6
Robberies- 0
Sexual Asslts- 0
Shootings-0
Shots Fired- 0
Homicide- 1 (Vic Milford Exec from Miller Brewing)

"Homicides don't even happen every year in the 5th Ward we have had 2 in the last 6 years"(-from neighbor who lived in the area for 23 years)

I feel completely safe in Walker's point.

It's some of the areas surrounding Walker's Point that can be the problem (no, not Bay View!). But the South Side is still much safer than the North Side, if you actually look at the stats.

I get the same comments living in Riverwest.
The neighborhood may be changing, but perception is not.
I think Riverwest is a little behind Bay View, in terms of change, but coming up fast. If we were looking for a house now we wouldn't be able to afford to buy in either neighborhood! We bought 5 years ago and looked at both. RW met more of our needs. I have lived in RW for 20 years and have only seen it get better....
