Default Where to find low property taxes on small acreage homes

We are looking to move to the Milwaukee area, my husband will be working downtown, and we DON'T mind a commute. We are looking for areas that offer 2+acres with lower property taxes. We want to garden and perhaps have a horse. Can anyone recommend an area for our search? Thanks so much! If not, are there any acreage subdivisions that are horse friendly?

Sandy

Horse friendly areas might be in the southern part of Oak Creek or northern Racine Co. I believe you need someplace that has agricultural zoning of which most of the Milwaukee suburbs do not.

Village of Caledonia in northern Racine Co has many horse owners. I work downtown Milw and it takes about 25 mins to get there (I'm very east so it takes me 10 mins just to get to I94). Don't really see horse properties in Oak Creek much - there still are some though. The public schools in Racine aren't very good so if you have children that could be an issue. Good luck!

Waukesha county might be a decent place to look, I know there are a lot of horses out this way...There are probably some left in New Berlin or Muskego, which wouldn't be a horrendous commute. There are many other choices with longer commutes, such as Mukwonago, Eagle,

If your husband really doesn't mind the commute, Jefferson County would be the place for land and animals with low taxes.
It will be an hour ride though.
