Thanks for the info everyone, I appreciate it.

Madonna Inn, my job would be in Palmdale and I would probably live around Santa Clarita since I've heard only bad things about Palmdale. You mentioned you would never live in Valencia. Why is that? I actually did want to check out Valencia and Simi Valley.
Just to clarify, If I end up making this move it would be for the job only not because I want to relocate. Wisconsin is where I'd rather stay but this job would be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. That said, what would someone born and raised in Milwaukee have a hard time adjusting to out there? What would I miss or have to do without. I also wonder about things like car registration fees, earthquakes, wild fires, brown-outs and black-outs and water which we take for granted near the Great Lakes.

As a Milwaukeean, coming to So-Cal you will miss and adapt to:

- Seasons!!!, Halloween and it's 90 degress in flip flops kind of throw you off out here. Especially Winter Holidays.
- Packers come on at 10 AM ! A bummer sometimes.
- If you're a sports fan of WI greatness, you'll need DirecTV and League passes for NFL, NBA etc. Never on TV out here.
- Easy Milwaukee Traffic, easy Milwaukee layout
- Great Bar food of Milwaukee, or just accessible nice restaurants for the average Joe.
- 8.25 % sales tax in LA California etc. sometimes really really sucks
- No sense of community, no street fests like the Church Fests of MKE or things like Bastille Days or Summerfest (CA has nothing remotely close to these cultural events.)
- You will miss snow, believe it or not.
- You will miss old brick buildings. Most of So-Cal is 1989 construction and all crappy stucco, strip mall looking buildings.
- You will miss general spread of nice people
- you will miss the "under-crowding" of Milwaukee. Most LA/So-Cal area movies, sports, gathering areas, like Mall are congested on a Tuesday night in April like it's a shopping rush on Christmas Eve.

Default californian's view

I've grown up in cali and now am looking to move to milwaukee, here's my point of view: In california you pay for one thing, the weather. However, with this comes the ability to go outside ALL year long and adds a little convenience as far as not having to shovel snow, bundle up, and bla bla ba. Anyways, the bad things: Its very expensive, homes can be near 1 mil and cost of living is exteremely high - expect to pay a lot for utilities. The colleges and universities are good but all other education is terrible. The traffic makes you lose your sanit. People here are mean, i was in awe when i went to milwaukee and saw how nice everyone was . Knowing spanish is very important in cali, especially in LA. Cali is a lawsuit happy state, it sucks to say it but cover your own cuz people are always looking to take the easy path and if they can live off of you they will. Employment is difficult due to the commutes and the fact that the competition is very high. We live in california to live, not to buy. If you don't mind living paycheck to paycheck do it but if you want a calm lifestyle you wont find it here. good luck!
