Moving to Milwaukee from VA, what are some nice areas for a young family?
I have lived in Virginia all of my life, and my husband got sent there to do recruiting. We are 25 y.o and have a 14 month old daughter. I am looking for an area that is safe and clean, and with a high white pop. Right now we are in a somewhat predominantly black area and I hate it. I dont want to hear any racism comments, we are white, and I feel most comfortable in white areas. That being said, where would we fit in? I am looking to pay $1200 a month or less in rent. Thanks in advance.

Urban, suburban? I don't really know what you are looking for and where your husband will work, so...Whitefish Bay, Shorewood, Brookfield...anything west of and including Wauwatosa. There are many other areas, also, including some areas north of and south of MKE.

I hear you about being white and preferring to live in a white area. It's the smart and safe thing to do. I live in WA (West Allis), and trust me, I wouldn't live here if it wasn't safe and didn't have pretty good schools. West end of WA is especially good. Tosa (Wauwatosa) is nice, but pricier then WA. Both are very centrally located to many things. In several minutes you can be in downtown Milwaukee and at the lakefront, which are cool. Send me a direct message, and if you want I'll send you some classified ads for rentals, etc., or give you other advice. You can definitely get a nice place for 1000-1200 a month.

You know people are interesting. Why didn't you just say hey I don't like the current neighborhood. Why not just say hey where are the good areas. Black people aren't bad, you just choose a bad area that all. By the way everyone I was looking for info on Milwaukee and I just couldn't pass this up. It saddens me that people still think it's about color. To the Op If you had to say don't give you a talk about racism, then think about what you say next time.

Recruiting. As in military? If it's the AF recruiters by the airport then I'd look into that area. Bayview, St Francis, Cudahy and Oak Creek are do-able in that price range and are family friendly.
