No doubt. Brookfield has nothing on River Hills or Mequon when it comes to snobs. Over 3/4 of Brookfield is middle or upper middle class, not everyone is a wealthy snob.

I have to say I get a kick out of the Appleton "blue-bloods". Some of them have the same snobby attitudes as wealthy Milwaukee and Chicago folks.

C,mon folks, it's northern (kind of) Wisconsin.

You have this everywhere. I don't understand what is to be gained being a snob? Why are people so insecure that they need to look down at others.

Very wierd. People in the South do not act like this. Rich mingle with poor. It's not cliquey, it's FRIENDLY. They just all really enjoy each other.

Brookfield has a good school system, library, and most folks are pretty friendly. Snobbish? That might be in the eyes of the beholder. There are snobs every where, but who cares? If you move to Brookfield (or any where for that matter) the one of the best ways to meet people is to get outside and go for a walk. Dogs are good conversation starter too! It is true winters are cold here, but as long as you are prepared it's not that bad. White flight came first, but tax flight came second. Have you seen the taxes in Shorewood?

Safety and tranquility is not something that you should have to "be able to afford." It should be ensured by the government regardless of where you live or how much money you make.

It is this attitude - that by living somewhere like Brookfield, you've effectively "bought" in to a higher (better) quality of life that perpetuates the racist/classist suburb.

Relax, and breath deep. I like living in Brookfield because: the low crime, 1,000 acres of land in 24 park areas, great library, high quality school system, wide variety of shopping &dining options, and tons of wildlife. I would not recommend Brookfield to a young single person looking for a place where you can walk to cool bars and cafes. The River West,3rd Ward, and East Side are a lot more hip. For a couple planning to raise a family it is a great place to live. You can drive to Milwaukee with out having to get on the freeway which is nice with all the snow we get here. Waukesha County also has many job opportunities with companies that moved here due to the low taxes and proximity to the Milwaukee and Chicago markets. How do you want the government to ensure every has the same quality of life? Please let me know when that happens, so I can quite working 50 hours a week.
