Default Brookfield full of arrogant people?

The town of Brookfield's Plan Commission recommended denying a plan from discount supermarket chain Aldi to occupy the former Gander Mountain building on Bluemound Road, citing concerns about the store's reputation and the type of customers and tenants it would attract to Bluemound Plaza. The Town Board, however, approved the plan, after the chain store made changes. What do you think

yes and I believe they made some chain store paint part of their exterior a different color because it was too bold for them.

Brookfield is so full of snobbery you can't even own a pickup truck (not sure if that one's still true) Anyway growing up in Germantown, Brookfield was always the congested elite suburb to the south. Totally Arrogant, Non-profits aren't even allowed to door-to-door canvas, just let them die in there houses that they paid to much for just so they don't have to look at a black person-- the baby boomers time is up!!!!! HAHAHA!!!!

Yes Brookfield is very full of it'self. I had to laugh back a few years ago seeing Million Dollar homes being built adjacent to swamp land.

Not every little thing about Brookfield is 100% bad. They have one of the better Detectives I've ever met, Detective last name begins with H. Very fair... And then on the other end of the spectrum, the traffic cops. Yikes. Racial Profilers at life's finest. Where I used to work there in Brookfield we had 24/7 staffing and if we had any dark skin employees, they would be almost for sure stopped on the way in to work. Every Single one of the Night Shift workers pulled over for no other reason than the color of thier skin. Get that. This was a major issue as we were no 7-11 either, we were a Fortune 500 corporaton. This had to be addressed with the Cheif of Police by our Operations Manager. The Brookfield Police Department had to issue a formal appology. Sorry but the damage was done.

So take that - a very true story, not second hand. Brookfield, a place where folks look down thier nose at others. A place where the citizens think thier poop does not stink. Where "not in my back yard" is REAL.

I'm not surprised by that. I have a friend who told me that during a conversation w/another person, this other person stated that cops SHOULD pull over all black people that are found in a white neighborhood. Too bad people still have that mentality in this day & age.

Slamont is right, Milwaukee exurbs in general are THE WORST when it comes to racial profiling and DWB, enough that it can give an area a bad name just for that (white-folks bay anyone?) along with the racial profiling comes the other classic exurb crime of DISB, more commonly know as driving in ****-box. a crime that is racially neutral. The problem with Brookfield is that they are loudmouths about keeping what they have nice and almost proud of the Racism, they think they deuce Bakery fresh sourdough---- whereas in seemingly similar River Hills, people just close up there gates, drive up their mile long driveways and that's the last you see of them until it's time for work the next day.

That's why planning commissions exist. There's nothing wrong with Aldi stores but they still have to be approved the same as other projects. A lot of other retailers have had to make concessions or adjustments before moving into new areas. In Sedona, AZ, for example, the McDonalds store has turquoise arches, not golden ones. I believe it is the only McD store not to have golden arches on the exterior somewhere.

I was pondering the comment someone made that a chain store's exterior had to be changed. That's how it works. If planning and zoning were left to their own devices, the results would not be good. If you're unsure about this, check out unincorporated areas or small municipalities near major interstates. Hundred foot tall gas station and fast food signs, rotting billboards advertising places that closed fifteen years ago, areas with one or two unkempt homes in the middle of three truck stops. That's why suburbs try to keep development in check. Development is good, but not all development is good.

As far as the comment about not being able to own pickup trucks, any law against owning pickup trucks is grossly misstated. If there are zoning laws about pickup trucks, they likely relate to keeping business or "work" trucks in a driveway overnight, and there could be HOA guidelines that restrict other things. These laws are hardly unique to Brookfield. In fact, many other local communities have restrictions like this as well.

Here's a new one outta there; Town of Brookfield adopts motorbike ordinance - JSOnline

Town of Brookfield adopts motorbike ordinance

(They'll tell you when where and what you can ride recreationally)

Town of Brookfield - Riders of dirt bikes and other motorized bikes beware: The town is clamping down on when and where such recreational vehicles can operate.
Faced with continuing conflicts in a neighborhood despite the bulldozing of a 10-acre private dirt bike track, the Town Board has enacted an ordinance restricting the riding of dirt, mini and trail bikes.
The rider at the center of the controversy - Greg Hochmuth, who competes in amateur motocross tournaments - is contesting two municipal tickets police issued last month when neighbors complained Hochmuth's riding on the leveled property was still too loud.
Hochmuth, 26, has pleaded not guilty to tickets alleging he violated the town's noise ordinances Oct. 16 and 21.
Town supervisors voted unanimously last week to adopt rules for "dirt bikes, mini bikes and trail bikes" intended for off-road use.
The new law requires motorized bikes to have a "functioning or sufficient muffler" and an engine no greater than 90 cubic centimeters. Bikes can be operated only from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, with no riding on the weekends or legal holidays.
Bikes cannot be operated in excess of 25 mph, unless they are on a public street or highway. Riders must wear protective headgear and be at least 12 years old.
No one can ride motorized bikes within 300 feet of a residential property or in a manner causing excessive dust, noise or nuisance.
Hochmuth and his Catherine Court neighbors have been at odds for years about the ramps he built on his father's property.
Waukesha County officials last summer ordered the family to remove the ramps or file a request for a conditional use permit, saying the Hochmuths failed to obtain proper grading permits to build it.
The family in July decided to remove the track.
But neighbors complained in October that Hochmuth was starting to ride again on his father's property, according to police reports.
An officer recommended the father contact the Waukesha County Mediation Center for help in resolving the dispute.
