Relocating to milwaukee from athens, greece
I'm a greek canadian now living in Athens , Greece & will be relocating to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My place of employment is situated in East Troy & I'm trying to get as much info as possible as to where would be the best place to live with my wife & 2 & a half year old son.All the usual questions such as quality of living, shools, property & home costs, commuting to work & related issues are the things that will play a big role in choosing a place to live.Any & all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.Thanking you all in advance.

All I know in East Troy is Alpine Valley and the Harley (Buell) plant. You could get to some of the Waukesha county suburbs in about 30 minutes (i.e. New Berlin, Muskego), or you could go into Waukesha. For more of a small town, there are lots of choices out that way.
Not sure what kind of lifestyle you are looking for to narrow things down...

Wow! Talk about culture shock...moving from Athens to Milwaukee. Actually, back in the later part of the 19th century, Milwaukee was called "the Athens of the U.S." I won't go into the reasons here.
Anyway, East Troy is quite a ways out from Milwaukee. Unless you want to spend all your time commuting, you'll want to look for housing in the southwest or western suburbs, or the smaller towns. There are lots of nice smaller towns surrounding East Troy that would have a sense of community for your wife and daughter. If you want a suburb of Milwaukee, you might try Greendale, Greenfield or Franklin.
I hope you're not arriving in the middle of our lovely winters.

Check out Elkhorn! It's a nice small town about 20 minutes from East Troy. The schools are excellent and housing is more affordable than most of the Milwaukee area. We lived there for 3 years, and really liked it! Good luck!

Milwaukee has a very sizable Greek community and has an annual Greek Fest. However Milwaukee Greeks don't appear to have a section of town they claim to like other ethnic groups. As a lifelong Milwaukeean I would chose from New Berlin, Muskego, Greendale, Hales Corners, Greenfield. If more of a small town feel is what you want I'd choose Mukwonago.

My boss is from Boston, while he still talks longingly about Boston (like I did about MKE when I lived in LA) he really likes MKE.
