I am moving to milwaukee area; my company is located in Waukesha. What areas/neighborhoods do you recommend for young professionals?

Not much to work off of here...you didn't provide many details.

I guess if I were relo'ing brand spanking new into the metro and was working in Waukesha, I would tend to just probably live in Waukesha. Pretty much anywhere you'd live there, you'd be OK.

This would be especially adventageous if you are in the portion of Waukesha kind of near the Bluemound Rd. / Moorland Blvd. coridor...as you'd be pretty close to a lot of restaurants and shopping options, as well as fairly easy freeway access to Milwaukee.

Other options of more urban nature (but still fairly suburban as well and close to Waukesha) would be a Wauwatosa or even a New Berlin.

If you provide more info in terms of the type of neighborhood you are seeking, nearby amenities, time willing/looking to commute, interests, housing/rent budget, etc., would help give better answers.

For a young, single professional, great options would be Wauwatosa, Downtown MKE, the East Side of MKE, the Third Ward of MKE, etc., - but most of these later options are a respectably large distance from Waukesha. So it just depends upon what your interests are, and what you are looking for.

I narrowed down the areas to pewaukee and brookfield... how can I find a list of apartment complexes in the area to call and make an appointment?

Waukesha county is hard-core suburbia with only a small bit of anything remotely urban. Waukesha has a downtown, and some urban type areas, but in my experience it isn't the kind of place that attracts young singles. There may be a few hot spots in the Lake Country, but probably not many.

I'd do the drive from the City of Milwaukee. Wauwatosa would work too. I know a guy who relocated to Milwaukee from some other state shortly after graduate school. He was working in Pewaukee, so he moved there. A year later he moved to Wauwatosa because he couldn't take the suburbs and was having a hard time meeting people. Driving to Waukesha is about a 1/2 hour drive from the city of Milwaukee. It's well worth the money and the slight aggravation. Milwaukee traffic is not too bad and much of the AM traffic would be flowing the opposite direction.

Having said this, if you like suburbs or country living, then you have many options.
