Default Anyone with kids at University Lake School?

We are considering a move to Oconomowoc and are researching schools in the area. We are not convinced public school will be the best route for our daughter (currently in kindergarten). She thrives in a small class size, but gets lost in a crowd. Traditional teach to the group methods are not as effective for her as self directed styles. She is high maintence if unchallenged, but completely motivated when focused on an interesting project. She is really a free thinker and problem solver and from what I have seen thus far in the public school setting I am not sure this will be her best bet for success.

Anyway - back to ULS - I am intrigued by their PR but leary of the whole private school bias. While I want the best education for my daughter I also want her to be rooted in the real world. What are the sensibilites at this school? Are the kids good kids - or spoiled brats? Are they accountable for their actions and do the parents take part in the educational process? I don't want to have to feel like I have to keep up with the Jones ( nor my daughter as she gets older) I am hoping the typical stereotypes associated with expensive private schools don't apply here

Any info provided would be greatly appreciated.

While I don't have any kids that attended ULS, mine went to Oconomowoc, I can vouch for their high standards and for the Beautiful campus. Each fall the School holds a Barn Sale as a fund raising activity, the sale is one of the most successful anual events out in Lake Country. There is a Saturday Auction that takes place for high end donated items - Cars, Boats, Sporting equiptment, etc... The children that attend the school are very much involved in the event and always seem like a very well behaved and level headed bunch.

If what I've seen from this group is reflective of their very nature, then the school is doing a bang up job. ULS is all that you would expect it to be. I do know of a couple families that had Childeren in the program and Each One of them is highly successful upon graduation, going on to attend the Universities of their choices.

The School does have a Web Site you could review.

My kids go there and we love it. The small classes are wonderful and the kids are able to do all sorts of really cool projects and hands on learning. It's a great environment and I've found the parents and kids to be really down to earth. The parents for the most part are involved and value education. The campus is beautiful and also adds to the learning experience. Definately check it out. We've been very happy there. My daughter even loves the middle school
