Default Dive for fish [fry]

So what was the place in Sussex? I've been looking for a place there to take a Sussex relative to. Someone else above asks the same question.

A couple places that are good, though not great, and a little bit "divey," but which I patronize mostly because they both are cheap and on the NW side [which has too few restaurants] are Schneider's Colonial Inn on 76th St between Lisbon & Capitol, and über-kitschy Gard's, on Lisbon & Burleigh. OK, maybe the divey-ness has something to do with it too; I hate 'kewl' places.

I come to Milwaukee once a month to look in on the "aging P," and a fish fry for lunch at Gard's on Friday is my Dad's & my sacred appointment. Also, drinks are not expensive.

Don't forget church fish fries, both the monthly and the annual ones. Two of the latter, again on the un-trendy NW side, are at Berea Luth Church in late March/early April and the smelt fry at the Catholic Church in Butler, later in April, I think. There are lines, but the church ladies have movement down to a science, and it's for a good cause, too!

I'm proud my first post here is about a fish fry!

Also the restaurant itself is nice, yet keeps a casual relaxed atmosphere. The fries are very good too, (you also have the option of having baked patato instead). A friend and I ordered the Alioto's Fish Fry, which starts off with 4 big pieces of fish, and the waiter/waitress comes around every now and then and asks if you want more fish or more fries. So you can get 4 more fish and more fries, nice and hot.

I recommend this place for anybody looking for good Fish Fry.
