Blow Hard was the term from back in the 20's and 30's when people used to call Chicago politicians "blowhards" this is what is meant by "windy City" it's not the wind, in fact Milwaukee is windier than Chicago.
Windy City= Full of blow hard Politicians, all you have to do is blow hard and they fall over(ie corruption).
The term was actually coined by a journalist/media from Chicago.
So now you should know a little Chicago trivia next time you go down south of the border.

If we were our own state, we would have to pick a really great State bird, State flower, State this, State that.
Nothing immediately comes to mind for Milwaukee State Flower or State Bird, but I think we all know that the State Song would have to be "Roll Out the Barrel."

Some folks on here need to stop with their madness. Madison is an excellent capital...matter of fact it's one of the best designed and more beautiful state captials in the nation. Everything from the Dome, to the streetscapes, to the amazing location between the lakes is simply beautiful. Placing state capitols in the largest cities is kind of mundane if you ask me. I mean I now live in Atlanta and you barely notice that you live in a capital city.
As far as being part of the state of Wisconsin, some of you are out of your damn minds. It's great being part of Wisconsin. It's a great state and a cool place to be from in that it has a unique culture and identity--as well as a kickass major state university (my alma mater) and the greatest football team known under God (Packers, of course). Since living outside of the state I have come to appreciate this. For example when I meet someone from Wisconsin, I know damn well that they know what I'm talking about when I talk about Friday night fish fries, cheese curds, Summerfest, going "up north", or the nastiness of lutefisk. You can never take the "Wisconsin" out of Milwaukee--never.

Here's my suggestion: Greater Milwaukee, Chicagoland, and Northwest Indiana should combine to create the new super-state of Williana.

I don't like Williana but I love the idea, I would just be fine with Chicagoland. I would make all of milwaukee county the city of milwaukee.
However We already have this it's called the Gary-Chicago-Milwaukee Corridor.

^^^No self-respecting Milwaukeean would ever desire nor recommend merging with our FIB neighbors to the south and our creepy Hoosier neighbors on the other side of Chicago...
I definitely believe that Milwaukee should further integrate its economy with Chicagoland's, but we will always be Wisconsinites.

I have nothing in common with northern wi nor have I ever been there, there is nothing in the rest of the state to even care about. Milwaukee is all that matters to me. I would be fine with making Milwaukee a part of ILL I mean the Dells are already in ILL!

I could deal with becoming part of the Chicagoland region.
When I'm traveling in other parts of the country, and people ask where I'm from, I reply "Milwaukee." Usually people have heard of it. When they haven't heard of it, and ask, "Milwaukee? Where's that?" I say, "it's about an hour north of Chicago." The word "Wisconsin" never even enters into it. That's just the way it is.

Ain't gonna happen so put your fairy tales to rest. I realize you're young and rather naive but now you have crossed the line by talking smack of my home town one time to many. You don't really know what you're talking about as you can't generalize the whole city based on some postings here or an opinion you based on what???? You had to ask where the bad parts of the city are so you don't have much first hand knowledge.
Have you even stepped foot in this city? I don't think Madison is all that, but your hatred of it is amusing, as apparently you need to get out and visit some real hell hole nothing towns to balance your negative opinion.
Yes there are some stereotypical types here as there are everywhere, and you will realize this as you live more years, but to suggest everyone is of the same mold in Madison is a falsehood.

My poking fun at Madison is all tongue in cheek, I'm not serious when I do it. I know it's a nice small town and have been there a ton of times and just never saw the appeal. The reason I asked about the crime is b/c I haven't been back to Madison in a year and my friends over there tell me in terms of crime it's getting worse. Milwaukee people picking on Madison is just like big brother picking on little brother... it's not serious.
