Yeah those condos you speak of probably look over the area that Laverne and Shirley was shot or Dahmer lived, therefore making it "historically" valuable

Yea I will take that as a joke...lol
Here's another stat enitre Madison area home over 1,000,0000: 56
Milwaukee Area homes over Million: 356
Face it there is more wealth in the Milwaukee area and more expensive housing in Milwaukee. Shows the 100 United States counties with the highest median household incomes colored red.

Take it as a joke if you wish..I find myself doing that with some of your outbursts!
I wasn't speaking of the million dollar listings and I never brought up wealth.

I know I agree, I find myself guilty of this all the time. It's like a vice you try to stop but can't stop.

Those numbers are way off. For a property assessed at $150K in Milwaukee County, you're looking at property taxes at about half the amount you listed. It's still bad compared to elsewhere (thank you county pension scandal!), but there's no need to distort reality.

My aunts house in west milwaukee is 155,00 and she pays 6,000 in property taxes so not way off, it also depends what area of town you live in.

The mill rate in West Milwaukee was $25.55 in 2007, which leads to a tax bill of $3960.25 for a house assessed at $155K. So either she's mistaken about the value of her house or her tax bill. A $6K tax bill is a mill rate of about $40 per $1K of assessed value at the $155K amount. It's bad now, but we're not at that point yet.

And you're taking your example from the most tax-stressed municipality in the region (the WM rate is over $2.50 more than the next highest municipality), so yeah, that is a distortion.

The City of Milwaukee's webpage has a search function allowing people to check on assessed property values and tax bills. You have to have a specific address for the search engine, though:
