Brookfield vs. Elm Grove
We are moving to the Milwaukee area, trying to decide between Brookfield and Elm Grove. We are Indian, so looking for some diversity.
Do you guys (and gals) have thoughts on pros and cons between the two?
Thanks

They are basically the same thing however elm grove being smaller has no main roads going through the city. I'd prefer to live in Elm Grove myself, Elm Grove is a more prestigious than Brookfield.

Elm Grove is more prestigious, but watch it if you like to speed, as they REALLY don't like that there. Brookfield is a bit more of a stereotypical suburb. I'm from Texas originally (sprawl anyone?) and Brookfield reminds me of Dallas suburbs. Elm Grove is a bit more rural looking, with houses set back from the road a bit more, almost like estates, with a bit more land around them.
Neither are really exceptionally diverse, as those were white flight destinations back in the day. The east side of Milwaukee is where the interesting destinations as far as restaurants, clubs, quirky local shopping and such are.
However, there is a wonderful Indian grocery on North Avenue right south of Mayfair Mall, and there are some interesting restaurants down Mayfair- a Mongolian BBQ, Tandoor Indian, sushi out on Blue Mound. Also, try Cafe Manna out on Capitol at Brookfield Rd (wonderful vegetarian spot).

Thanks for the notes. We will be up there this weekend looking at homes, looking forward to the move.
Amazing how long some of the homes have been on the market.
