Do you buy local?
I like to buy Milwaukee products whenever I can, either it's a Milwaukee drill or Milwaukee's Pickles or roundys, master lock, miller, leons, calypso or cousin's subs. I will also buy Palermos however I used to hate it but now I love it. So do you bank at M&I or buy KOSS headphones or shop at Kohl's or only buy a lawnmower with a Briggs engine? Do you only buy investments or insurance from Northwestern Mutual? maybe you use Baird for your investment needs. Do you try to go out of your way to buy from local merchants such as Fred's or the Milwaukee public market or get your fruits or meats from one of Milwaukee's ethnic deli's? how about restaurants or getting your car fixed?
Are you a Buy Milwaukee First kind of person?

I eat at Cousin's fairly frequently, the wife shops at Kohl's regularly, and I begrudgingly utilize Pick n' Save and their bloated prices out of convenience (can't wait for the Woodman's to open up at 124th & Leon/Bradley...).
But I'd think it's more important to buy at local merchants than to utilize local products. A lot of the names you mentioned have a regional or national marketshare, and some of them are local in name only (Miller/Roundy's come to mind first). The local stores don't have that type of exposure and fallback option. Unfortunately, our single-income budget doesn't allow me the monetary convenience to shop at those places as much as my conscience would like, but to those who can and do, good for you.

There's not a lot of local businesses in Bayview, but on the east side there is so I usually go there. It just about killed me to walk into walmart yesterday to buy my fishing license instead of the small bait shop by my parents house, that guy didn't sell licenses there.

Yes that's also what I'm talking about. For instance every week or two weeks I will pick up a 6 pack of my fav. Polish piwo and each time I will go to a different Polish deli to help spread the wealth around to the Polish community, I usually go to local restaurants vs chains like olive garden.
I'm a big buy Milwaukee guy!!!
