Default Another Oconomowoc question......

I know I've posted about Oconomowoc questions before - but we finally sold our house and our search has heated up to find our next location.

For those of you who live there, we are really interested in the Merchant Plat area. Are there other areas that are similar in feel and style that are close to downtown??

And speaking of downtown - just what is happening there?? Every time we visit it seems very dead. No foot traffic, stores are closing - it seems like some place that is on the way out rather being revitalized. What are your observations? What is the city counsel doing - if anything to jump start the area? What are your thoughts for the future??

We are comparing this area to Cedarburg which we know very well. We love the energy in the downtown area and the eclectic mix of shops and restaurants. There are always people out and about.

We want to end up someplace that we can walk/bike from home to the downtown area in a small "historic" town. And we want a neighborhood with older homes of differing styles. We love the lakes and parks in the Oconomowoc area - but the downtown area is our big question mark.

Any opinions would be most appreciated.

You might want to post this in the Milwaukee forum, there might be a few extra people to respond there.

Good Luck

labmom--

Have you made your move yet? We just relocated to Oconomowoc from Naperville, IL...dont have much to say about it yet, weve only been here a month. It does take some getting used to. We are still questionable on the location where we will build or buy..our house is still up for sale in Naperville. We are renting in a newer area and feeling things out.

The downtown area seems to be dying as the Pabst Farms area gets the attention, but that isn't a walkable old school downtown. Delafied has that - lots of people and cool things to do, though you'd probably pay a higher price to be there. Schools are better though.
