I would say your antagonistic behavior and over the top responses qualify you as troll-like, but it could just be that you have a whole mess of issues that, you believe, can be solved by hating Milwaukee.

So I think we have 12-1 in favor of Badger being a troll, I have read a lot of Badger's other posts' and he/she seems to be a "firestarter". I use my knowledge and unbiased view of Milwaukee among other topics to give sound advice on CDF. I don't know what use Badger is getting out of CDF or the reason for his use.

If you're a high earning republican looking at a $700k status symbol, you'd do great in Waukesha County. The main concerns out there are keeping taxes low and keeping out poor minorities (affordable housing). There are lots of angry white men out der, hey? Stay away from liberal Milwaukee and Madison. You should be able to find a nice private lake with no public access in that price range and never have to worry about crime or undesirables. **** the poor!

The truth is that I like Milwaukee. I know what it use to be like. It was one of the most prosperous and safe cities in the country. It had a strong manufacturing base, a good public school system, beautiful parks, and well kept homes and neighborhoods.

But now, other than a few reclamation projects (E.G. Walker's Point), most of the city proper is a mess by any reasonable standard.

When I drive through the North side, I imagine what it would look like if the people cared for their property. Not too long ago, many of those neighborhoods were beautiful. Seriously, if some of these homes were transported to Madison, they'd sell for 500K. What are they worth in Milwaukee?

There are some nice streets here and there. But, on the North side, travel three blocks in any direction and you're in the middle of some crappy business district with bums and chicken heads wandering around from liquor store to check cashing stand.

Milwaukee was really nice. Like Detroit, the city relied too heavily on manufacturing and when those jobs left so did the quality of life. I used the term Detroit Light, because it suffered from the same problems, but on a smaller scale.

So, Milwaukee City, instead of questioning my motives, tell me where I'm wrong.

If they were transported to Murray Hill in Milwaukee they would be worth 900,00.

What standard? comparing Milwaukee to Madison? The near north side and near south side is not the best we all agree on that part but to say the whole city as a whole is Detroit I believe is just wrong. Once you get south of Cleveland Ave on the south side between 6th and 35th street the city of Milwaukee is clean up kept and very safe. The NEAR north side is no good we all agree but the far northwest side and just the northwest side doesn't all look like the ghetto in some spots the northwest side looks nice but isn't and in other areas it looks nice and it is nice. It's almost like people expect a big city not to have dirty or ghetto areas, cripes even SD has a hood. I have been all over the US and I was shocked to see how ghetto a lot of the cities are and when you compare them to Milwaukee, Well Milwaukee looks a lot better.

I relate it to people from Wisconsin or the suburbs not ever been anywhere in the US and have no idea what big cities are supposed to look like or how they are. My second trip to NYC we were walking on NY's Upper East side they all remarked on how ghetto and dirty and filthy the city was then when I told them that we were in a very prestigious part of Manhattan they didn't believe me until we started talking to some locals. It's almost like people who are not city people want all big cities to look like Brookfield.

Have you ever been east of UWM and all along Milwaukee's North Shore where you have blocks upon blocks of 800,000+ homes, or the south side near Wilson Park where the lawns are picture prefect? When the average home in Detroit sells for 8,000 and the average Milwaukee home sells for 150,00 it's hardly Detroit light. Detroit light would be Memphis where homes sell for an average of 35,000. Actually b/c Milwaukee's hood is so bad it brings down the average home price in Milwaukee. It's safe to assume you cannot buy a nice home in a decent area of Milwaukee for under 200,000.

Chicago is a world class city but parts of Chicago are like a third world country, I'll say it again Milwaukee is nowhere near Detroit, Camden, Gary, Memphis. If you travel to any of the big cities they all have extreme wealthy and poverty even NYC and LA and SD and SF.

How the hell is the Upper East side of Manhattan a ghetto. Have they any idea how much the real estate cost in that area. Madison Ave, Park Ave and Fifth Ave have some of the most expensive homes in the world. It is a exclusive area. Your friends must have never step foot in a city. I guess some people have a whole different way of seeing things.

Why do people insist on judging the entire Milwaukee area on the worst side of town. I don't get this. It a large diverse area with mostly nice areas. My guess is that less than 15% of the entire area would be considered "ghetto". Even in the city it is easy to avoid the bad parts of town. Just stay of it if you don't like an area. It's not that tough.

You know what's even more bother some, is I'm in sales so I am constantly talking to people and I deal with people in Chicago and in Oshkosh and more often than not I hear on how people have been to Chicago, New York, San Diego even and I still here them say "ah New York is such a crap hole" or "I would never live in Chicago, I don't want to get shot". I had a guy say to me once "how can you live in Milwaukee?" "don't you hear gunshots daily?"

Like I have stated earlier I attribute this to people who don't know anything about city living or expectations of living in a city. I also had a guy tell me he would never live on Prospect avenue with all those homeless people and riff raff.

Some people just aren't city people but judging something when you know nothing about it is what I like to call stupid and it's a lesson we all learned back in 2nd Grade. Don't judge a book by it's cover.
