Not familiar with Wisconsin.
Looking for a little rural area just outside West Milwaukee, small hobby farm?
4 children all in 4H, but have a husband who works in city, so need to not be very far away.??? any ideas? what areas should we be looking at?
 thanks
Where we live now, have small hobby farm just 5 miles out of city.
City slicker married country girl.

Help from other Wisonsinites here, but I do not believe that you can live on a hobby farm much closer than 20-25 miles at least from Milwaukee. Is Menomonee Falls/Sussex a possibility? That would be a little closer. Are there small farm areas in New Berlin still? Sorry citymanagerswife, but I am a small city/suburbanite just trying to help!

You may want to look into some of the following areas, west of Milwaukee proper: Hartland, Delafield, Ocnomowoc, Geenesee, Muckwonago. All about a 30 minute commute to Milw. Another REAL NICE area is NEOSHO/Hartford, northwest of Milw. More like a 45-60 minute commute. Once you get away from Milwaukee Metro area, there is a suprising amount of rural environment . Acerage should be avaiable for hobby farms, I'm not up on prices however, been away from Milw for quite some time. Good Luck!!

Relocating to Milwaukee
There is a house with a barn on probably 2 acres for sale by owner in our town. My husband drives to Milwaukee everyday...it's about 35 minutes, but
it is a pretty easy drive because 25 minutes is highway. 7 minutes from the highway is 35-25 mph, is scenic and passes past a pretty lake. We're selling our house too, however ours is on 1/2 acre lot and in a subdivision. If you want more info on the other house, or you know anyone who might be interested in a house like ours, please let me know PS...our house has 4 bedrooms with a unfinished basement that's partially exposed and it's plummed for a full third bath...3000 sq. ft. West of Milwaukee, East of Oconomowoc.

You should look at some of the more rural areas outside and around lake country. Merton, Sussex and some of the other small towns have lots of rural land surrounding them.
