Default MSP Cost of living

How does it stack up against other cities?

Namely, Chicago and Denver.

Are rents and various amenities cheaper than the other two?

Also, as a side question, is Minneapolis a walkable town?

Thanks in advance.

I just moved to Denver from the Twin Cities and I would say that rent and utilities are roughly the same. I've no idea about Chicago. The main difference I noticed down here is that you usually have to pay ALL your utilities whilst in Mpls/St Paul heat and water are included in the rent. But then they put the rent up a bit .

Amenities in the Twin Cities are VERY good. You're loaded with theatres, museums, festivals thro'out the Summer, the river, the lakes, etc, etc. Parts of Minneapolis are walkable. Hennepin is the main thoroughfare for the shops and businesses but if you live near there, expect to pay a premium. Other neighbourhoods are nice to walk too: warehouse district, Uptown (altho you'll hear nasty reports about the crime there), the lakes such as Lake of the Isles/Calhoun/Harriet, further out like St Louis Park, Nokomis and even across the river in Highland can be lovely.

Heat and water not included in apartment rent? That's dumb.

Anyone else's input would be greatly appreciated
