Default Commute Time

How long is your commute to work, door to door?
Feel free to elaborate below in terms of where you live/work, method of commuting, etc.

Again, more interested in time than distance...

Have lived in "upper" Chisago County for about 15 years. Up until two years ago wife and I commuted daily (straight thru on 35W) into downtown Minneapolis and parked at my employer's expense in a central downtown ramp. Our work hours evolved over time but we both generally started work at 7:00 (or earlier) at our request so that we could beat the heavy traffic. Generally, we would both be done by 3:30 and be on the freeway shortly after heading for 35W North.

The inbound commute was always easier and we could make it door-to-door in about 55 minutes and rarely hit any slow-downs all the way to Washington Ave. The average commute home involves some congestion on 35W well past 694 and was about 10 minutes longer. This would involve a secret route to avoid Washington Avenue/35W and a frequent bypass of 35W between Hwy 36 and 694 along Cleveland Ave and Old Hwy 10 to Hwy 96.

I now work north of 694 and my wife takes the park and ride, ironically enough we now drive two vehicles because she starts earlier and I start later than we use to. The commute has never bothered either of us and there isn't a day that goes by that I'm glad I didn't trade in the short commute to South Minneapolis for the peace and tranquility we have now.

I knew lots of people who worked downtown and commute in from Eagan, Apple Valley, Shakopee and would spend more time crawling to and from work at 10 - 15 miles and hour and take longer than we did traveling three times as far.

My commute drastically changes if I rideshare but if it's just me driving I can get from South Minneapolis to the office in Eagan in just under 20 minutes. It's never a bad commute because I'm going opposite of traffic and I have multiple routes to allow me to avoid construction and bottlenecks caused by accidents as needed.

I've also biked it many times and can do that in right around 45-50 minutes, with the option of hopping on the light rail to cut about 1/3 off of the distance.

I live in South Minneapolis, and I work in South Minneapolis. When I drive (really hot days, days I have to bring something to work, or days I am not coming home after work) it takes 13-15 minutes to get there, and 11-12 minutes to get home (thanks to the timed lights on Blaisdell.) When I bike it takes me 20-23 minutes.

Victory Neighborhood Minneapolis to the West Bank/Cedar Riverside Minneapolis (and vice versa)- generally 15-20 minutes, 10-12 minutes on really good days/low traffic. DaPerp- do you work on opposite ends or corners of the Southside (e.g. SW to SE)?

It takes anywhere from 10-20 minutes from my house near St Thomas to get to the office in downtown St Paul.

My husband and I live in Rochester, MN and he works in Farmington. It's about 65 miles or about an hour drive one way door to door.
